Content Roundtable

8:30 – 9:15 a.m.

  • Col. Mohamed Eltoweissy, Ph.D,  Professor and Department Head, Computer and Information Sciences, Virginia Military Institute
  • Edna Reid, DLS, Associate Professor, James Madison University Department of Integrated Science and Technology

Both presenters will discuss their department’s cyber security coursework. A discussion on requiring cyber security and resilience courses at the undergraduate level will follow.

Labs Roundtable

9:30 – 10:15 a.m.

  • David Raymond, Virginia Cyber Range Director  

Participants will discuss pros and cons of various options for hosting environments for cybersecurity education, from standalone laptops to local virtualization to cloud-based solutions. We will also discuss the Virginia Cyber Range, a new virtual resource for cyber education within the Commonwealth.

Active Cyber Defense Roundtable

10:30 – 11:15 a.m.

  • Errin Fulp, Ph.D, professor of computer science at Wake Forest University

Participants will focus on cyber defenses that use preventative and/or regenerative characteristics to provide real-time detection, analysis, and mitigation of threats. Participants will consider the advantages and disadvantages of these dynamic defense methods, as well as the prospects of future use.
